Jayanthi, we are conducting Hyagreevar
Homam on 24th August 2018 with the blessings of our beloved Guruji “Kayilai
Gnanaguru” Dr. Sri Muralidhara Swamigal at our Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam,
Walajapet Hayagrivar homam will be performed, for the benefit of school- and
college-going students etc., and also for the welfare of the gurus and their
families.
This homam, scheduled by 10.00 AM
to 12.00 PM and Navakalasa thirumanjanam by 5.00 PM to 7.00 PM, is being
performed for the students to score good marks in the forthcoming examinations
and also for them to obtain good knowledge, wisdom and intelligence.
Hayagrivar homam invokes divine
blessings for the children for their success in their exams, and empowering
them through vedic prayers. Hayagriva is worshipped as the God of Knowledge and
Wisdom. His blessings are sought when beginning study of sacred and secular
subjects. The benefits of performing this homam are - improvement in memory,
concentration, success in knowledge ventures, studies, education and careers
related to education, removal of ignorance, tamas, laziness, inertia. This

About Danvantri Peedam Lakshmi Hyagreevar :
Lord
Hayagreevar is Goddess Saraswathi’s guru. He finds a
place in this pantheon because knowledge can overcome illness. Swamigal wanted
the idol to be made of a very soft
sandstone, as this was the dictate of the nadi. Unable to source the stone,
Swamigal was worried. A long lost friend visited him by chance. His brother
happened to be a granite agent, and he had the stone delivered the very next
day. It was the first time that the raw material came to the temple before
going to the sculptor. Sri Vedanta Desikar is believed to be an incarnation of
Lord Hayagreeva himself. Lord Lakshmi Narasimhar is the guru of Sri Vedanta
Desikar.
