About
Dasa Mahavidhaya Homam and Benefits :
The
Mahavidyas are ten particular incarnation of divine mother. The Ten Mahavidyas
are known as Wisdom Goddesses. The spectrum of these ten goddesses covers the
whole range of feminine divinity, encompassing horrific goddess's at one end,
to the ravishingly beautiful at the other. Mahavidya means (Maha - great; vidya
- knowledge) Goddesses of great knowledge. In Tantra, worship of Devi-Shakti is
referred to as a Vidya. Of the hundreds of tantrik practices, the worship of
the ten major Devis is called the Dasa Mahavidya. These major forms of the
goddess are described in the Todala Tantra.
They
are Kali, Tara, Maha Tripura Sundari (or Shodasi-Sri Vidya), Bhuvaneshvari,
Chinnamasta, Bhairavi, Dhumavati, Bagalamukhi, Matangi, and Kamala. These ten
aspects of Shakti
are the epitome of the entire creation.
There
are several “levels” at which these Devis can be worshiped with the prescribed
Mantra and Yantra. Like a simple worship of the yantra with the mantra
recitation, as a remedial astrological measure, elaborate worship with all
tantrak rituals for attaining various siddhis associated with these tantras and
for spiritual salvation.
Successful
sadhana of these Vidyas gives several boons to the practitioner. The
Tantrik-Yogi who has control over his senses and positively inclined uses the
boons to guide people and for the benefit of mankind. The ones whose head
starts spinning with success use them for the gratification of the senses,
gather a bunch of disciples around them and become fake gurus.
The
last chapter of todala Tantra equates Vishnu’s ten incarnations with the ten Mahavidyas
as follows:
“Shri
Devi said: Lord of Gods, Guru of the universe, tell me of the ten avatars. Now
I want to hear of this, tell me of their true nature. Paramesvara, reveal to me
which avatar goes with which Devi. “Shri Shiva said: Tara Devi is the blue
form, Bagala is the tortoise incarnation, Dhumavati is the boar, Chinnamasta
is Nrisimha, Bhuvaneshvari is Vamana, Matangi is the Rama form, Tripura is
Jamadagni, Bhairavi is Balabhadra, Mahalakshmi is Buddha, and Durga is the
Kalki form. BhagavatÌ Kali is the Krishna murti.” (Todalatantra, chapter 10)
The
worship of these is also prescribed as an astrological remedy – for the 9
planets and the Lagna as follows:
Kali
for Saturn, Tara for Jupiter, Maha Tripura Sundari (or Shodasi-Sri Vidya) for
Mercury, Bhuvaneshvari for Moon, Chinnamasta for Rahu, Bhairavi for Lagna,
Dhumavati for Ketu, Bagalamukhi for Mars, Matangi for Sun, and Kamala for
Venus.Shaktas believe, "the one Truth is sensed in ten different facets;
the Divine Mother is adored and approached as ten cosmic personalities,"
the Dasa-Mahavidya ("ten-Mahavidyas").The Mahavidyas are considered
Tantric in nature.
These
Goddesses are:
Kali the Eternal Night , The ultimate
form of Brahman, "Devourer of Time" (Supreme Deity of Kalikula
systems).
Tara the Compassionate Goddess ,The
Goddess as Guide and Protector, or Who Saves.Who offers the ultimate knowledge
which gives salvation (also known as Neel Saraswati).
Shodashi
the Goddess who is
Sixteen Years Old, Lalita-Tripurasundari (Shodashi) The Goddess Who is
"Beautiful in the Three Worlds" (Supreme Deity of Srikula systems);
the "Tantric Parvati" or the "Moksha Mukta".
Bhuvaneshvari
the Creator of the
World,The Goddess as World Mother, or Whose Body is the Cosmos.
Chinnamasta the Goddess who cuts off her Own
Head, The Self-Decapitated Goddess.
Bhairavi
the Goddess of
Decay,The Fierce Goddess.
Dhumawati the Goddess who widows Herself, The
Widow Goddess,or the Goddess of death.
Bagalamukhi the Goddess who seizes the Tongue,
The Goddess Who Paralyzes Enemies.
Matangi the Goddess who Prime Minister of
Lalita (in Srikula systems); the "Tantric Saraswati".
Kamala
the Last but Not the
Least,The Lotus Goddess; the "Tantric Lakshmi".
The
Mahabhagavata Purana and Brhaddharma Purana however, list Shodashi (Sodasi) as
Tripura Sundari, her another name. The Guhyatiguyha-tantra associates the
Mahavidyas with the ten Avatars of Vishnu, and states that the Mahavidyas are
the source from which the avatars of Vishnu arose. All ten forms of the
Goddess, whether gentle or terrifying, are worshiped as the universal Mother.

materialistic desires) and Moksha(Spirtual Liberation).

BASIC
CONCEPT :
Parabrahman
who is jothi swarupa has no starting nor ending. This Brahman can be considered
with or wirhout Kala or attributes. Without Kala,Brahman is said to be Nirguna
or Sutha Shiva who is eternal, unchangable & without any modification. And in
the Sakala form [ie] with Kala, Brahman the Para Shiva with its attributes
produces an acting power or Para Sakthi which forms an integrating part of
Brahman. Thus Sakala Brahman includes both Para Shiva & Para Sakthi. so, Para-Shiva
[the universal] cosmic masculine power must go side by side along with Para
Sakthi [the Universal] cosmic feminine power, thus forming the fifty-fifty
principle of Arthanareeswara [Shiva - Sakthi united form].
Thus
, Para Shiva & Para Sakthi forms the
two sides of a coin. Moreover, non of them can be fruitful alone, because the
entire manifestation proceeds by means of an intelligent and conscious
substratum of the Brahman [ie] ParaShiva as prakash sakthi upon which gets
super imposed its power of apparent multiplicity Para Sakthi as Vimersa Sakthi.
Thus the Sakala Brahman divides itself in the form of Prakasa Shiva &
Vimersa Sakthi. By coming out of the unbalance Triguna [Sathava, Rajas &
Tamas]. We have the progressive disclosure of the cosmic creation.More over, in
the process of cosmic evolution, Para Sakthi evolves in different &
consecutive phases as Kala, Bhindu, & Natha. This Para Sakthi in her macro
cosmic form is said to be Maha Kundalini & in her macro cosmic form is said
to be Kula Kunadlini [Which resides as 3½ coils of a sleeping serpent in the
Muladhara chakra of all vertebrates]. Devi operates for the evoution of the
cosmic processes on one state & on the other hand for their dissolution or
Moksha process.
And Moksha in the evolution any experience is
the inverse proceeding of sakthi to the union with prakasha rupa Para Shiv -
Brahman. And this identification is said Samarasya state which is not different
from Brahman himself. And this knowledge which helps the Jeeva union with
Brahman is called BrahmaVidya. And this can be accomplished with the blessings
of Devi for her sincere & dedicated upasakas. During the first stage of
Devi's upasana the sadaka feels that he is different from Devi [ie] he was
having Dhuvaitha Bhavana. And more over he had Tripudi Bhava [ie] Jeeva - Guru
- Devi are different. and as the upasana proceedes his veiling & avarana
effects are disappering & at last the upasaka feels that Jeeva - Guru -
Devi are same [ie] what are expressed in the Maha Vakyas .Thatvamasi & Aham
Brahmasmi comes to his Anuboothi. and this Brahmavidya or Paravidya [which is
not different from Brahman himself] comes to Anuboothi for sincere &
dedicated upasakas. and this is possible because Devi is pure Conciousness,
& she is regarded as immanent reality. Vidya means Knowledgae, is the
synomim of Brahma Vidya or Sri Vidya which is the ultimate knowledge. Sri Vidya
or Brahma Vidya shares with other tantric schools a general philosophical
content [ie] She manifests an advaita vision [ie] the upasaka in his ultimate
upasana feels each & everything as Devi itself. But in the classical
advaita Brahman creates Maya as agent. In case of Sri Vidya, Sri Lalitha Maha
Tripura Snudari herself creates a masculine power polarity in her intention of
becoming differenciated. Lalitha saharasnama's last verses indictes that Sri
Lalitha Maha Tripura Sundari is Shiva & Sakthi union deity. Devi is either
prakash or vimersa vast &various is the upasana application s of Sri Devi.
Devi Para Sakthi has manifested innumerable forms. Among these, Vishnu's ten
incarnations equates with ten avatars of Devi & these forms of Devi are the
basic Vishnu avatara sakthi & helped the Lord Vishnu in performing his
avatar motto. And these ten forms of Devi are noted as Dasa Maha Vidyas. Though
here are many incarnation of Sri Devi in the world, all these incarnations are
included in these Ten Vidyas itself. As multitudes of rivers flow to the same
ocean, so different vidyas run side by side to attain the same goal [ie]
attaining Mukthi.
As seed form the basis for tree, so Sri
Lalitha Maha Tripura Sundari who is Saugana Brahma Swaypini form the basis of
all these Devis. More to say, all these Devis are the manifest forms of Sri
Lalitha. And these ten aspects of sakthi are the epitome of the entire
creation. And the knowledge of these ten Devis are indicated as DasaMahaVidyas.
And they start from Kali to Kamala. Each of them have a specific sadhana,
upasana, mantra, yantra & upachara. Sri Devi is adored in many temples
& sacred places. There are same fifty one important Sakthi Peethas all over
India. For eg: Kanchi - Kamakshi, Kasi - Visalakshi, Madurai - Meenakshi,
Mysore - Chamunda, Maharastra - Amba, Kolkatta - Kali, Kollapur - Mahalakshmi,
Samayapuram - Mari & so on. And all these Devis in one or other way, come
among the DasaMahaVidya. And each Devi indicated in these vidyas are the
avatars of the ParaBrama Saguna Swaupini. Sri Lalitha Maha Tripura Sundari
& also have been manifested from her, they have no difference in their
mahatva or their ability & valour and the grace they shower towards their
bhaktas. They are ever ready to shower their blessings upon their true sadakas
in which ever form they are worshipped.
The ten Mahavidyas are also known as wisdom goddess, since
they have been manifested from Sri Litha Devi who is fully bloomed pure
conciousness. The spectrum of these Ten Devis covers the whole range of
feminine divinity encompassing horrific goddess at one end, to the ravishingly
beautiful at the other. Though they vary in the form & structure, they all
are the goddess of great knowledge. In Tantra, worship of Devi Sakthi is
refered to as a vidya. These major forms of the goddess are described in the
Todala Tantra. They are Kali, Tara, Maha Tripura Sundari [or Shodashi - Sri
Vidya], Bhuvaneshwari, Chinnamasta, TripuraBhairavi, Dhumavathi, Bagalamukhi,
RajaMatangi & Kamalatmikha. Mantra sasthra has indicated that these ten
vidyas are capable of blessing their upasakas all the four PuruSharthas [ie]
Dharma, Artha, Kama & Moksha [ie] they also bless Bhoga & also Moksha.
We can conclude that what all a sadhaka needs is being blessed by these Devis
immediately. This Dasamahavidya Homam being one of the strongest among the
royal homams, it demands exceptional spiritual powers and knowledge in the
person who performs it. The holy priests who have attained superconsciousness
through the divine feminine energy are the only people who have the capacity to
conduct this maha yagya. The energy derived out of this Homam is very awakening and has tremendous powers to change anything
and everything about a person’s life at one and instantly. This high risk-high
return worship and is supremely dangerous but very rewarding. Complete power of
your destiny is possible through this only homam.
