Danvantri
Peedam Lakshmi Hyagreevar
Lord Hayagreevar is
Goddess Lakshmi’s guru. He fi nds a place in this pantheon because knowledge
can overcome illness.
Swamigal wanted the idol
to be made of a very soft sandstone, as
this was the dictate of the nadi. Unable to source the stone, Swamigal was
worried. A long lost friend visited him by chance. His brother happened to be a
granite agent, and he had the stone delivered the very next day. It was the
first time that the raw material came to the temple before going to the
sculptor.
Sri Vedanta Desikar is
believed to be an incarnation of Lord Hayagreeva himself. Lord Lakshmi
Narasimhar is the guru of Sri Vedanta Desikar.
