HISTORY OF SRI SESHADRI SWAMIGAL

INTRODUCTION

Everyone at some stage in his life, sits up and thinks: Where from he came? Where is he heading for? What is he doing? And what he should do? He also ponders as to how to overcome death and how to get salvation. He longs for God - realisation while still in this body and understands that such god-realisation is the knowledge that destroys death and grants everlasting bliss and that it is the paramount need of any man before the body may drop down any moment. Here he looks for guidance and feels assured that God has not left him in lurch. India, has given to mankind several Saints, Sages, Rishis, Sidda-purushas from time to time.

The aim of life is to make it sublime. It is the Saint who has reached that stage. He has shown us the path, which we have to tread in this world of materialism and uncertainty, to reach the goal of life. Books like Upanishads and Bhagavad-Gita contain the theories on Self-realisation, while the Saints and their life are the laboratories where you find them to actual form and practice. One can read an entire library of books and yet not realise the goal of life but if he gets the contact of a "JIVAN MUKTA (Realised Soul)" and earns HIS BLESSINGS, he would get it in no time. One such Mahan (great saint) is Sri Seshadri Swamigal of Thiruvannamalai.

About Sri Kuzhandaiananda Swamigal

SRI KUZHANDAIANANDA SWAMIGAL was born in the year 1607. It was during the historic period of the reign of Rani Magammal whose capital city was Madurai.

His father’s name was Sri Ramaswamy Iyer, and mother was Sree Tripurasundari. The couple, who were childless for many years, prayed to Goddess Meenakshi for a child. The prayers were heeded, two children were promised but one of them, the one with auspicious marks on hands and feet was to be offered to the temple. The one, named Rajagopalan was duly left in the sanctum of the temple of Meenakshi Amman at Madurai. Thus Rajagopal became Goddess Meenakshi’s son, and went on to become Sadguru Sri Kuzhandayananda Swamigal.

The child Rajagopal, grew in the temple, and one day while playing marbles in the premises, was taken in the arms by a sadhu Sri Ganapathi Baba, and given the Panchakshara Mantra in the ear, and in turn given the Panchakshari by the child.

கயிலை ஞானகுரு டாக்டர் ஸ்ரீ முரளிதர ஸ்வாமிகள் தன்னுடைய பெற்றோர்களை குருவாக ஏற்று குருவினுடைய ஆசிகளுடன் உலக மக்களின் ஆரோக்யத்தை மனதில் கொண்டு வேலூர் மாவட்டம், வாலஜாபேட்டை, அனந்தலை மதுரா, கீழ்புதுப்பேட்டையில் ஸ்ரீ தன்வந்திரி ஆரோக்ய பீடத்தை நிறுவி தினசரி யாகங்களை நடத்தி வருகிறார். மேலும் பலவிதமான சிறப்பு யாகங்களையும், கூட்டு பிரார்த்தனைகளையும் நடத்தி வருகிறார்.

பீடத்தில் பலவிதமான தெய்வங்களையும், மகான்களையும், சித்தர்களையும் ப்ரதிஷ்டை செய்து வருடந்தோறும் மகேஸ்வர பூஜையுடன் குரு பூஜையும் நடத்தி வருகிறார். சமயம், கலை, இலக்கியம், பண்பாடு, வேதங்கள், ஆகமங்கள், பாரம்பரியம் போன்றவைகளை மனதில் கொண்டு, அறிவியல் சார்ந்த ஆராய்ச்சிகளை செய்து வருகிறார்.

தன்வந்திரி பீடத்தில் தனி நபர்களுக்காக அபிஷேகம், அர்ச்சனை, ஆரத்தி நடைபெறுவதில்லை. மேலும் உண்டியல், காணிக்கை, வாகன பூஜை, துலாபாரம், வருடாந்திர உற்சவங்கள், பால்குடம் எடுத்தல், காவடி எடுத்தல், தீ மிதித்தல், அங்க ப்ரதட்சனம் செய்தல், முடி காணிக்கை, தேங்காய் உடைத்தல் போன்ற வழிபாடுகள் செய்வதில்லை. ‘நோயற்று வாழட்டும் உலகு’ என்ற தாரக மந்திரத்தை கொண்டு அனைத்து இன மக்களின் நலனுக்காக கூட்டுப் பிரார்த்தனைகள், தியானம், யோகா, இயற்கை மருத்துவம், வாழ்வியல் சம்பந்தமான பயிற்சிகள் நடத்தப்பட்டு வருகின்றன.

பீடத்தில் அன்னதானமே பிரதானம் என்ற முறையில் அன்னதானம் ஆடை தானம் மற்றும் கல்வி உதவி, மருத்துவ உதவி, திருமண உதவி, மாற்றுத்திறனாளிகளுக்கு வேண்டிய உதவிகள், பள்ளி சீருடைகள், முதியோர்களுக்கான உதவி, ஆதரவற்றோர்களுக்கான உதவி, இயற்கை சீற்றத்தினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டோர்களுக்கான உதவி, சாதுக்களுக்கு வஸ்த்திர தானம், யாத்திரிகளுக்கு தங்கும் விடுதி, முதியோர் இல்லம் போன்ற பல சமுதாய பணிகளை செய்து வருகிறார் நமது ஸ்வாமிகள்.
