Aadi Amavasya is the New Moon
day in the Vedic month of Aadi (August). And on this darkest night in the month
of Aadi ( August), tarpanams are performed to our ancestors as it is believed
that this day is dedicated to them.
One owes a lot to one’s
parents and ancestors. Each ancestor is actually present in the person as a
genetic characteristic. Our ancestors are vested with mystical powers and
authority and their spirit retains a functional role in the world of the
living, especially in the life of their living relations. It is believed that
the dead have a journey to make, to bestow the positive deeds for their dear
ones through the remarkable framework of ancestral worship. The disembodied
existence after death gains the power to govern your destiny and marks great
miracles in life of existing.
One of the most probable
reasons behind blocks or failures in your relationships, health, finances,
career etc could be because of the interference from your departed and
unsatisfied ancestors.
In karmik terms, one inherits
some karma of one’s parents and ancestors and each ancestor is actually present
in the person as a karmik predisposition. The latter approach obviously extends
to multiple lives and some karmik predisposition is inherited from the
ancestors from a past life too, though they may not be related to one in this
life.
By thinking of the deceased
ancestors with gratitude and trying to give them emancipation, one is actually
trying to free oneself from various karmic predispositions. One can view this
as an external event of satisfying and emancipating an external entity.
However, one needs to externalize first and perform external rituals, while
thinking of what it means internally. This builds up one’s visualization and
slowly brings about internal changes and eventually the desired internal change
itself.
With the divine blessings and
spiritual guidance of GNANAGURU DR. SRI MURALIDHARA SWAMIGAL, elaborate
arrangements are being made at Danvantri Peedam, Walajapet for celebrating AADI
AMAVASAI with Special Homams, Poojas, Vedic Chanting, Annadhanam, etc.

There is a lot of churning in
the Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam at Walajapet, Vellore district, but it is being
shouldered by Peedam founder, Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal, in
a fantastic way.
As part of pariharams,
Ashtadik Balakar Pooja was performed on October 15, 2012, Mahalaya Amavasai
day. The pooja included the offering of 108 pumpkins as bali.
According to Swamigal, as is
the regular ritual, Rahu-Kethu Preethi homam was conducted for the Amavasai as
also the Soolini Durga Homam.
The poojas were followed by
annadhanam.
The special guests for the
occasion was Chandrasekara Mudaliar and family from Latheri – they are not just
devotees they are also my well-wishers, declares the Swamigal.
