An awareness campaign for rainwater harvesting was held at the Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet, on July 9, 2013.
Peedam founder Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal, speaking about the importance of rainwater harvesting, said water must be conserved and preserved. Water was an important ingredient in all walks of life. Therefore, it was important that water should not be wasted. Every effort should be made to conserve water and rainwater harvesting technique was an important part of the water conservation efforts.
He said the Tamil Nadu government had taken several commendable efforts to propagate the use of rainwater harvesting. He urged every individual and organization to implement rainwater harvesting in their own areas so that rainwater is used in an effective and judicious manner.
