The Chennai Trekking Club (CTC), working with Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet, on October 26, 2013, planted trees and helped improve soil fertility and promote greenery with a view to create a better environment in the campus in tune with nature. The campaign was undertaken at the Peedam with the assistance of Peedam founder Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal.
Over 100 volunteers and leaders of CTC worked at the Peedam on Saturday from 10 a.m., to plant saplings and help in improving greenery and to make the campus environment-friendly.
They also helped in organising a garden where vegetables, flowers and fruits can be grown. Later, they cooked food and stayed overnight at the Peedam. They would leave on October 27 morning for another programme at Kanchipuram.
