In an unprecedented move, the Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet, will organise a Raaga yaagam on November 17, 2013, to propitiate the Gods according to their favourite classical raagams for the benefit of mankind and world peace.
Peedam founder Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal has announced the Raaga yaagam in which 16 Carnatic raagams would be performed, along with 16 homams, each one dedicated to a particular deity. The Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam houses 66 idols.
Explaining the concept, Sri Muralidhara Swamigal said this would be the first time that 16 raagams would be used to propitiate the deities.
The performance of such raagams would help one avert disease, debts, depression, and get married, progeny and well-being.
The programme will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, with Hamsadhwani-based, Raaga-based archanai for Parents.
Then would follow other Raagams
Gowri Manohari for Gurus;
Naattai for Danvantri Ganapati;
Sindhubhairavi for Panchabootham, Ashtadhik Balagargal, Navagrahams;
Thodi for Brahma;
Saraswathi for Saraswathi;
Revathi for Sivan;
Janaranjani for Parasakthi;
Bowli for Mahavishnu;
Madhyamavati for Mahalakshmi;
Reetigowla for Danvantri;
Kalyanavasantha for Hayagrivar;
Shanmughapriya for Murugan;
Maalayamrudham for Narasimhar;
Brindavana Saranga for Bhairavar;
Kurinji for Anjaneyar.
Mettur Brothers would sing the Raagams. Sri Vaishnava Sri Gunasekhara Bhattacharyar will explain the significance of the raagams. Dharmapuri Venkatachalam and troupe will play the nadaswaram.
The team of vedic scholars would be led by Sri Rajappa.
