Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam conducting Sri Annapurani Pooja and Homam on Sunday 02.04.2017. Sri Annapurni Devi is the goddess of nourishment. The name Annapurni has a special meaning, “Anna” means grain and “Purni” means complete, full. Sri Annapurni Devi is acknowledged as the giver of food. She is another avatar of Goddess Parvati.  People who worship her every year to bring happiness and fulfilment in their life with her blessings.

Sri Annapurni Devi puja and homam is performed at the Chaitra maasa. As per the English calendar, the Chaitra maasa comes in the April month. The pooja is performed at the beginning of the April month. This Puja has been performed for five days just like the Durga puja. Sri Annapurni homam and pooja is performed in Shukla Paksha of Chaitra maasam (April month). All the devotees worship the Goddess with merriment and enthusiasm. Womens take part in this pooja more actively than men.

To perform this puja properly one has to follow all the rituals. Making the perfect deity of the Goddess is the very first step and then it is really essential to dressed her with beautiful saree and rich ornaments. With the proper mantras, flowers, different fruits and especially with food grains the puja is performed.Annapurni puja process: The Annapurni puja is one of the most intricate and complex pujas among the other pujas of Hindu religion. It is very difficult to organize the whole function properly by following all the rituals. People believe that this incarnation of Devi Parvati is resemblance with the giver of food which is the necessity of our lives. So, a small mistake can lead to massive loss. During these five days, the Goddess is worshipped with fresh fruits, food grains and rice. Women who take participate in this puja perform a day long fast and they do not eat food until the Puja is completed.

Devi Annapurni is known as the symbol of Anna which is food. According to the Hindu mythology the barn of Annapurni is never remain empty. She is the Devi of sustenance in our life. She makes our life perfect, absolute and fulfilled. She removes poverty, crisis from our society and gives us the most important thing that is food. Hence, by worshipping her we can lead a happy and healthy life.

‘Om Annapurniyai Namaha’
‘Om Sadapurnayai Namaha’
‘Om Hrim Namo Bhagavati Maheswari Annapurne Swaha’
‘Om Hreem Shreem Kleem Namo Bhagwatye Maheshwari Annapurne Swaha’

 By worshipping Matha Annapurani we get all her blessings which help us to live a healthy life. Her blessings give nourishment to the children and other people of the society.
