Kanchi Sivachariyas conduct Sakthi yagam at Peedam

Walajapet: There was a flurry of activity on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet, Vellore district.

Three days after the 51 Sakthi Peeda Mathruka yagam began – on the first two days the yagam was performed by 51 women participants and on the third day, it was the extended Danvantri Family that took part in the yagam – the fourth day saw Sivachariyars’ particiaption.

According to Peedam founder, Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal, the 51 Sivachariyars who came all the way from Kancheepuram, were led by Kanchi Kamakshi Amman temple sthanikar and Devi upasakar, Sri Natana Sastri.

Bringing a lot of spiritualism to the yagam, the 51 Sivachariyars made the area reverberate with their Vedic chants.

The yagam came to an end with poornahuthi. Following this, water from the kalasams that had been kept for the yagam were used to perform abhishekam for the charming idol of Goddess Mahishasuramardini at the Peedam.

The Sunday yagam also saw some important visitors. Ranipet DSP Shankar turned up with his family to participate in the yagam. Sri Saravanan of Mahatma Gandhi Trust, Chennai physician Dr Rangarajan and Thiru Murugesan added colour to the yagam.

Since Sunday was also Theiypirai Ashtami, special abhishekam and poojas were performed at the Swarnakarshana Bhairavar shrine in the Peedam.

As is the custom at the Peedam, there was hearty lunch served for all the visitors and the Swamigal’s disciples in the afternoon.
