The special 5,000-kg, Red Chilly Prathyankira homam, which began at Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet, on December 19, 2013, ended here on December 25 with an impressive concluding ceremony.
In order to celebrate the tenth anniverdary of the Peedam and in the interest of world peace, a special homa kundam -- 16 feet wide and 12 feet deep -- was set up to conduct the yaagams. A 30,000 square feet mandapam was put up next to the Peedam complex.
On December 25, a special Bairavar homam was also conducted along with Prathyankira homam.
Peedam founder Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal supervised the arrangements for the homams.
Sri Sakthi Amma, founder of Sripuram Golden Temple, participated in the yaagam on December 24. Balamuruganadimai Swamigal, Sri Sachidananda Swamigal, Srimath Kumaraswamy Thambiran, Puducherry Assembly Speaker V Sabapathi, several MLAs and former legislators, besides representatives of local bodies, were also among those who attended the yaagam.
Sri Sri Kamalapeedam Siddham Srinivasan, Akshya Sri Sai Dhyana Sabha Swami Sai Ivichandran, Tiruvannamalai, former collector of Vellore, Rajendran, IAS officer Murugiah, Durgabhavan Vijayashekar, J Lakshmaman, industrialist from Arcot, former councillor Saravanan, writer P Swaminathan, Dr Kasturi, Namakkal Mani and astrologer Siva Murugesan were among those who attended the homams.
A large number of devotees, mostly from South India and some from abroad, participated in the homams. They later took part in the annadhanam scheme.
Former Collector Rajendran released a book titled 'Sthala Varalaarum Arul Avadhaaramum', contributed by writer P Swaminathan.
In the homam on December 25, 1000 kg of chilly, pumpkins, turmeric, kunkumam, navadhanyangal, neem oil, ghee, silk material and herbs were offered to the deities.
