Buddha Poornima was celebrated with gaiety at Sri Danvantri
Arogya peedam, Walajapet, on May 24, 2013. Peedam founder Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr
Sri Muralidhara Swamigal said a special prayer and abhishekam was performed for
Lord Buddha at his deity installed at the Peedam. On the day of Buddha
Poornima, Buddha’s birth, enlightenment and death are all recalled. On his 80th
birthday, Buddha, on the same Baisakha day when he got enlightenment, he gave
up worldly life too. That is why the day of Buddha Poornima is special to
Buddha devotees all over the world.
