We have the most awaited Aradhana of the year – Sri Raghavendra Swamy Aradhana during the middle of August in Durmukhi Samvatsara on the following dates.
19-Aug-16(Fri) : Poorva Aradhane
20-Aug-16(Sat) : Madhya Aradhane
21-Aug-16(Sun) : Uttara Aradhane
I am already seeing quite a few seaches being made by devotees on the 2016 Aradhana dates and hence comes this note.
Raghavendra Aradhana in 2016 is the 345th Aradhana Mahotsava of Sri Guru Raghavendra Swamy. It is the death anniversary of the Guru. Shri Raghavendra Swamy, a 16th century saint and Guru, advocated Vaishnavism and popularized the Dvaita philosophy of Madhvacharya. The Raghavendra Aradhana 2016 will be held at Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam on August 20.
Most mutts and organizations associated with Sri Raghavendra Swamy around India will be observing the Aradhana. It begins with the Poorva Aradhana.
It is annually observed on Shravana Krishna Paksha Dwitiya or the second day during the waning phase of moon in Shravana month as per traditional Hindu lunar calendar followed in Karnataka.
It is widely believed that Raghavendra Swamy is a manifestation of Prahlada, one of the greatest bhaktas of Vishnu. He served as the head of the Sri Math founded by Sri Madhvacharya from 1621 to 1671.
He is believed to have performed numerous miracles during his life time. He also composed numerous bhajans and commentary on the teachings of Madhavacharya.
Guru Sri Raghavendra Swamy merged with the Supreme Truth on 1671 (attained Samadhi).
