5-foot Dasabuja Kali idol to be installed

For the first time ever in the world, maha mathrugaa homams will be performed for 51 Sakthi peedams at one place – Sri Danvantri Arogya Peedam, Walajapet, at 51 homa kundams from August 14 to 17, 2014, with the assistance of women for the first two days and 51 Sivacharyas on the next two days, Peedam founder Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal has said.

Dasamaha yaagam would be performed at 10 a.m. on July 24 and 25 as part of the preliminary pooja for the homams. A five-foot Dasabuja (Maha Kali) idol would be installed for the purpose.

The Dasamaha yaagam is being performed to propitiate the ten Kalis -- Maha Kali Devi, Thara Devi, Devi Tripura Sundari, Devi Bhuvaneswari, Devi Chinnamasta, Devi Bhairavi, Devi Dhumavati, Devi Baglamukhi, Devi Matangi, Devi Kamalatmika. Goddess Parvati said to have given form to 10 sakthi powers to demonstrate to Lord Siva that she had as much power as him (at a time when she had differences with Siva when there was no love lost between Siva and her father Dashyan).

Worship of Dasabuja Kali would deliver boons to devotees, and protect them from evil influences and confer several benefits on them.
