founder Kayilai Gnanaguru Dr Sri Muralidhara Swamigal said. Sri Suktha homam
and Garba Rakshambikai homam were also performed.
The sumangali puja took place on Sunday, January 30, 2015,
for the benefit of the world, Sri Muralidhara Swamigal said.
The sumangalis prayed for long life of their husbands and
for marital harmony.
Vellore district collector Nandagopal and revenue officers
-- Manila, Suresh, Kalyanaraman, Priyadarshini, staff of courts, various
government departments, besides others participated in the programme.
Mr A V Venkatnath and his wife from Delhi, and Mr Pattabhiraman
from Chennai had helped the Peedam in arranging the material for the homam.
The kalasatheertham used in the homam was used for the
abhishekam of Arogya Lakshmi Devi and Maragadeshwarar and Maragadeswari idols
in the Peedam.
The 1008 sumangalis who took part in the special puja were
provided a special sowbhagya package free of
cost which would include a saree, turmeric, kungumam,
bangles, a comb, a mirror, fruits, betel nut and leaves.
Sri Muralidhara Swamigal said taking part in such prayers
would ensure their husbands lived long and they could lead peaceful lives.
The devotees later attended the special annadhanam at the
Peedam.
