VELLORE:Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah on Friday visited the Danvantri Peedam near Wallajah to participate in the bhoomi pooja of a Maha Mantapam encircling the Vasavi Kannikaparameswari temple in the Danvantri temple complex.
He also took part in the vasthu shanthi homam, bhooshakthi homam and sakaladevatha ayusha homam on the occasion.
“The founder of the peedam, Muralidhara Swamigal visited me in Chennai and extended a personal invitation in this regard and I have come here as a devotee and not as Governor,” he said.
Muralidhara Swamigal said that the Governor had laid foundation for the construction of a 27 ft by 77 ft mantapam with an estimated cost of `30 lakh.
The peedam was planning to establish a Kubera Lakshmi temple in the complex soon. He said that peedam runs an old age home (with eight inmates), a ghoshala with 30 cows, a naturopathy and yoga research centre and an ayurvedic clinic manned by a qualified ayurveda doctor. A nithyamangala chandihoman has also been started this year which is being performed every day during evening hours. The complex also housed 73 deities in separate temples and 468 siddhar lingams. He said that on July 31 and August 1, the peedam would be organising a free danvantri homam at Chittoor after a gap of 12 years.
